In the seventh episode of series two, Pez and Geoff go deeper into youth football subjects than ever before! The following six questions were used to trigger many discussion points, many hard hitting, on a variety of topics. Lots of great advice for parents & coaches to help children fulfil their potential.
-
With only a limited amount of time for my child to practice, do you think he is best off practicing his strengths or his weaknesses…?
-
In a previous episode you talked about the power of visualisation. Can you explain more?
-
What are your top tips for parents that have young children just starting playing football?
-
I saw the quote from Arsene Wenger about technical skills that you sent out. Please could you elaborate more on the subject…?
-
My son plays for his local team and used to really enjoy it. A lot of the players from his team now play for a Saturday team as well, and they’ve started to make fun of my son for not being good enough as they are now in an academy. Can you offer us, his parents, any advice to help him…? We’re new to football and don’t fully understand the differences in the teams and how to explain things to him.
-
Our son’s U11s manager continually coaches the team throughout the match. I understand that children need some guidance but he talks them through every play and every situation. It’s got the team quite well organised but none of the players take risks or express themselves. Other parents seem to love it as results are good but I get very frustrated with it. Am I right to think that their creativity is being coached out of them or should I accept that this is how most managers operate and get on with it…?
